About Us
Afri-Can Alliance International is a resource-based non-profit organization in Edmonton that has helped the Black-Canadian communities including seniors and newcomers integrate by creating opportunities in employment, business, health education and socio-economic development through capacity building programs that promotes equity, economic independence and cross-cultural understanding.


Mission
To strengthen the capacity of Black businesses and underserved communities by promoting health/mental wellness, social equity and harmony while priding on our cultural identity through history, technology, entrepreneurship, social innovation, fashion, culinary, visual, and performing arts.

Mandate
To provide innovative training or support services to Black businesses, individuals and families on their basic human rights and limits as citizens, while we prepare them for an evolving economy and encourage the application of contemporary skills to solve the complexity of social, political, technological, and economic issues of our time.

Our
Leadership
Afri-Can Alliance’s leadership composition is 100% Black-led and our Board of Directors are more than just a pool of executives, they are a team of seasoned professionals that have demonstrated capacity with vast experience in socio-economic development programs; they constantly engage with project teams to boost productivity and performance output.

Team

Bola Badmus,MSc, BSc, PMP, CBAP PROGRAM DIRECTOR / FOUNDER
Bola is the founder of Afri-Can Alliance International and a pioneer of the Board and Advisory council. He is a Business Strategist and Development expert with about 20 years professional experience in business development, project management, process improvement and operational management for clients in both private and public sectors.
Mr Badmus provides socio-economic analysis and strategic value proposition to the Board of Trustees on programs services and project reporting, spanning across scope, budget, partnerships, operational framework, project analysis, human resources, and regulatory policies.
Bola, through his development expertise, recently partnered the United Nations on Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) to reduce poverty and empower African women as well as youths through strategic community development initiatives; developed and championed various community projects in partnership with the Government of Canada through the Supporting Black-Canadian Communities Initiatives (SBCCI), Black Entrepreneurship Program’s National Ecosystem (BEP), Canada Race Relations Foundations’ National Anti-Racism Initiative, Government of Alberta’s Multiculturalism and Anti-Racism Project, Canada Women and Sports’ Spotlight Initiative and New Horizons for Seniors program (NHSP).
He is very passionate about economic empowerment initiatives.

Lekan Oganla MBA, BSc. COMMUNICATIONS & PUBLIC RELATIONS DIRECTOR
In 2009, Lekan founded the West African arm of TAXi-AD International, a 360 degrees Marketing Communications Agency which later evolved to Sell Media Group through a franchise agreement in Hamburg, Germany. Lekan holds an MBA and a degree in Computer Science & Engineering at the Obafemi Awolowo University. He has progressively developed his entrepreneurial capabilities spanning over two decades in Marketing communications, Public relations, Branding and Media consultancy.
Mr Oganla is a progressive consultant and very passionate about youth empowerment.

Yetunde Ajao CPA, CGA, FCCA – FINANCE DIRECTOR / SECRETARY
She is a finance expert with about 15 years dynamic experience in auditing, financial control and reporting, risk & compliance, loan and equity financing, tax planning and ERP implementation. She is responsible for the overall quality and output of each engagement as it relates to budget planning. She is fully equipped with extensive analysis, reporting, project and people management skills. Her finance experience spans across several industries in two continents, Africa and North America.
Yetunde is currently the Finance Manager at North American Construction Group.
MANAGEMENT AND OFFICERS

Anu Akindele LEAD PSYCHOLOGIST AND MENTAL HEALTH COORDINATOR
At Afri-Can Alliance, she trains our program officers on mental health services and help members, particularly women and youth through counselling, social services and domestic abuse.
Anu is currently studying her Doctorate degree (Ph.D) in Clinical Psychology having bagged two Masters in Clinical Psychology at Covenant University and Mental Health & Addiction at Fanshawe College Toronto respectively; she also has a Bachelors degree in Psychology at Covenant University.

Abdul Oganla YOUTH AND SPORTS COORDINATOR
Prior to this role, he served as the Program Director of Africa-USA College Soccer Recruitment Tour (AUS Access), a student-athlete recruitment program which facilitated over $1,000,000 worth of scholarships for its scholars.
He is a graduate of Knox College, Chicago with a Bachelors’ in Economics and a minor in Business Management.
Lynsee Leahy PROGRAM COORDINATOR / MARKETING AUTOMATION SPECIALIST
She has helped multinational companies reach their target audience by communicating effectively through media and digital channels. Prior to her role, she worked with Oilers Entertainment Group to provide tactical leadership with a focus on facilitating leads, improving sales and launching strategies for great customer experience.
Ms Leahy is passionate about community development and likes to volunteers.

Lawrence Adelakun
Mr Lawrence is a member of Afri-Can Alliance’s Advisory council and Board of Trustees, judging from his wealth of experience in Community Relations, Sales and Business Development for over 20 years. He has worked with several multinational companies like Coca-Cola, HILTI, Phillip Morris; and rose through professional ranks from an Account Manager to Area Commercial Manager.
At Afri-Can Alliance, Mr Adelakun provides advisory support and oversight for our programs and services; he facilitates capacity building training and support to newcomers with a focus on upskilling them with the social integral skills required to thrive in the Canadian workplace.
He is a community development enthusiast and sports lover.

Ade Adeniran
Ade was recently appointed to the Afri-Can Alliance Board of Trustees and Advisory council, where he advises the board and management on Logistics and Project management in a bid to ensure efficiency and greater output for our community services.
Mr Adeniran has over 15 years professional experience in Project management and Construction safety in the Oil and Gas industry. He has worked and delivered on several projects with large Canadian and multinational companies like Canadian Natural Resources Limited (CNRL), Shell Plc, Imperial Oil, Suncor Energy, Nutrien, Devon etc.
At Afri-Can Alliance, he is also responsible for coordinating the organization’s community out reach programs and bridging training for new immigrants, particularly engineers in construction safety and engineering industry.
Ade is a professional Engineer (P.Eng) and a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) with several industry certifications.

Ayo Akinpelu
MBA, BSc.
Ayo is a founding member of Afri-Can Alliance’s Board of Trustees and Head of Women Advisory Committee. She brings to fore her extensive experience in Social and Child Care services having worked professionally with various public health and social development agencies for over 15 years.
Ms Akinpelu is passionate about capacity building and feminist advocacy. She holds a Masters’ in Business Administration (MBA) and Bachelors’ degree in Economics.
